Download files from BrowserStack real devices
App Live enables you to download files or images from BrowserStack real devices to your system, and test apps that have report or document generation and download functionality.
Supported devices and file size
Devices | Android devices running Android OS 6 and higher. iOS devices running iOS 13 and higher. |
File size | The maximum total file size supported for download is 50 MB .The combined size of all the files you want to download from a BrowserStack real device must not exceed 50 MB . |
Download files or images
- Log in to the App Live dashboard.
- Upload your app and select your device from the device listing, to launch your test session.
- In your app, trigger the file/image download workflow, and download your file/image.
The downloaded files/images are saved in theDownloads
folder of the BrowserStack real Android device. - On the Live toolbar, click Files & Media > File tab.
- Click Download files from the Device > Download files.
The files are downloaded in the.zip
format to your browser.
- Log in to the App Live dashboard.
- Upload your app and select your device from the device listing, to launch your test session.
- In your app, trigger the file/image download workflow, and download your file/image.
The downloaded files are saved in theChrome
folder, and downloaded images are saved in theDCIM
folder on the BrowserStack real iOS device. - On the Live toolbar, click Files & Media > File tab.
- Click Download files from the Device > Download files.
The files are downloaded in the.zip
format to your browser.
View downloaded files
You cannot view the downloaded file on the App Live device because there are no file viewer applications installed on the device. Additionally, access to the files and default applications is restricted due to security reasons.
You can view the downloaded files using the following workarounds:

Online file viewers: You can use online file viewers such as PDF viewer to view the downloaded file.

Local system file viewers: Once the file is downloaded to your App Live device, download the file to your local system using the Download files feature. You can then use any file viewer installed on your local machine to view the file.
